Fans of Maud Hart Lovelace and her books will be interested in an upcoming episode of “Off 90” that will air on KSMQ (PBS Southern Minnesota and Northern Iowa) on Sunday, January 19 at 7 pm. It will also be shown on Thursday, January 23 at 7 pm and Saturday, January 25 at 5 pm. The episode will be available on YouTube and at ksmq.org beginning Tuesday, January 21.
Kevin Hanson, producer, shared with me the following introduction to the program: “Learn about a writer from Southern Minnesota who recorded her formative years in a celebrated series of books. Maud Hart Lovelace is best known for her beloved series of Betsy-Tacy books which were based on her own life at the turn of the twentieth century in Mankato, Minnesota. The childhood homes of Maud Hart Lovelace and her best friend, who the characters Betsy and Tacy are based on, are owned by the Betsy-Tacy Society. The Society has restored the homes to their original turn-of-the-century charm.”
Last fall Lona Falenczkowski, a founding member and current president of the Betsy-Tacy Society, and her daughter Emily Scott were interviewed for the upcoming program. Check it out!
